Self Portrait

I was looking at on old self-portrait, close up, while working on my website. The direct, digital pastel technique feels a lot more painterly than the work I do most of the time. It got me in the mood to try another.

So in one sitting, a few hours, I banged this guy out. It's a new painting, but I look mostly the same. I'm starting to bald - so you won't see any paintings of the back of my head.

It's hard to find people who are willing to sit still for hours while I paint them. Hence the self-portraits. I'm thinking once I settle into my new studio it might be fun to put up a craigslist add for models. They would get a free digital portrait of themselves and I would get someone to pose for free. Everyone's happy. We'll see how that goes.
